Here is my 2 Cents #BanThis
So I avoid politics like the plague. Always have. Always planned on it. But thanks to the wonders of social media it is kind of hard to do so. Especially when it is an issue that affects people like yourself.
Can you guess what it is? Yup. The abortion ban. Now this blog isn’t going to go into the rights and wrongs of that choice but I am going to express my frustration. Why? Because I am a woman and hear me frickin’ roar.
One of the parts that makes me the most outraged is the fact that a single woman in her early 20s is not able to get a hysterectomy. It is true. One of my good friends, who cannot have children physically due to health reasons asked her doctor and they told her she was too young, not married (her husband would need to agree to it), and didn’t have children already. She was not able to make that decision in her life right now because she might change her mind later. I find that aggravating, because you are pretty much telling her that she cannot make the choice to do what she needs to with her body to protect herself and any potential eggs that might get fertilized. It would kill her and the baby if she ever got pregnant. Okay, sure an easy solution for her is to never engaging in the hanky panky, so she wont be in that situation. But realistically, that is bologna.
I don’t know what the future will hold for us women, but I know that together we will leave it better than what we are giving.
